About Our Class
Elementary school is a time for children to learn about reading, writing and math. However, it's also a time for children to have fun and learn about the world around them. We will be having several special activities in addition to field trips to supplement the learning in our class.
To alert you of your child's progress, there will be Parent Conferences in November. At that time, student progress reports are given out to alert you of how your child is doing.
Parent volunteers are always appreciated in the classroom. Volunteers must have a TB test on file before participating. Classroom donations are always appreciated for activities and school supplies. If you would like to help out, feel free to contact me, and I will be happy to talk to you.
I have a passion for lessening toxins in our environment. This year I have invested in house plants from NASA's list of top air purifying plants to help filter the air. The plants are: Dracaena, Peace Lilies, & Florist Chrysanthemums. Please let me know if your child has any allergies to these plants.
In addition, I have written a grant on Donors Choose for essential oils and an atomizing diffuser. I have researched all of the oils to ensure that they are considered to be Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) and all approved for use with children (2-6 yrs). I chose only single oils, not blends, because I wanted to ensure there were any extra oils or ingredients. I will not run the diffuser all day -- only intermittently and as needed. If any parents do not want me to diffuse EO's when their children are present, I will not.
Lastly, I adore animals! We have classroom pet rabbits - Bonny & Beau. They are both fixed so there won't be any baby bunnies! They are a bonded pair, very friendly and love Romain Lettuce, Cilantro and Greens (NO carrots - those are like candy and these bunnies are already "fluffy" enough!). Please feel free to send in fresh treats for them! Again, please let me know if your child has allergies.
